ASRock launches the first high-end motherboard
ASRock has recently launched its first high-end motherboard, the 4Core1600P35-WiFi+ adopting Intel's P35 chipset. Although the P35 will only support up to 1333MHz FSB officially, ASRock has enabled support for up to 1600MHz, according to the company. In addition to solid capacitors and overclock control software, the motherboard features the Realtek ALC890 chip for sound, and also built-in IEEE 802.11g.
ASRock is also planning to soon launch motherboards adopting Nvidia's nForce 650i and 680i chipsets, according to the company. Although the new product lines mean that ASRock has begun to step into Asustek Computer's motherboard market, the two will not become competitors, and instead will cooperate with each other. ASRock will continue to focus on the entry-level market, while mid-range and high-end products will account for 30% of the company's total motherboard shipments, noted Sterling Wu, president of ASRock.
ASRock will raise its motherboard ASP (average selling price) slightly in the future and will not use low pricing as its major selling point. Instead the company will try to achieve a better price/performance ratio, noted Wu, adding that the company expects motherboard shipments in 2008 to rise 20% on year, while EPS (earnings per share) will go up to NT$23-24 (US$0.71-0.74).

ASRock already reveals information about the motherboard 4Core1600P35-WiFi+ and 4Core1600Twins-P35, based on chipset Intel P35. This chipset will be urgent for Intel platform to the second quarter 2008.
The motherboard series 4Core1600 not only support 1600 MHz system bus , but also propose alternating support to Ddr2-1066 and Ddr3-1333 memory . For the first memory type four slots DIMM are provided , for the second - only two slots. Two slots PCI Express x16 work according to PCI Express x16 + PCI Express x4, and they ensure official support to AMD CrossFire technology . Both motherboards support 45 nm processors Yorkfield and Wolfdale.
The differences between the motherboards are small: 4Core1600P35-WiFi+ is completed by WiFi (802..11g) controller . The first motherboard is built on Intel P35 + ICH9R, the second - on Intel P35 + ICH9. The first support six ports Sata-300, and the second - only four. Which is characteristic, eSATA on the rear panel exists in both models. Motherboard ASRock 4Core1600P35-WiFi+ uses solid-state capacitors. Naturally, only 4Core1600P35-WiFi+ ensures RAID support. It proposes the more qualitative sound codec ALC890 with support DTS and relationship signal/noise not less than 110 dB net gigabit port in both motherboard, but only 4Core1600P35-WiFi+ is equipped with two light-emitting diode indicators. Furthermore, 4Core1600P35-WiFi+ only has two ports IEEE 1394 (FireWire).
In China the cost of motherboard ASRock 4Core1600P35-WiFi+ is equal to approximately $136, motherboard ASRock 4Core1600Twins-P35 is proposed for approximately $91.
