Are Mac users snobs? “The Street” thinks so

Think you’re cool with your MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iMac, or Mac Pro? US stock Market news site “The Street” has news for you: they think you’re a snob!

Time for some light hearted fun that hardcore Mac users might not appreciate. Mac news site “Insanely Great Mac” has uncovered a video clip from stock market news site, “The Street”, guaranteed to send any touchy ‘superior’ Mac fanboi into such a lather they might start seeing spinning beach balls of death wherever they go, although many of the uncovered traits are quite complimentary.

Taken from research conducted by Internet advertising research firm Mindset Media, Insanely Great Mac says that the research “found Mac users to be more liberal, less modest and more assured of their own superiority”.

Mac users strong enough to watch The Street’s video clip without getting so offended they’ll smash their screen will discover the 2 minute and 18 second video says the following:

Mac users “self centred, arrogant, conceited”. Out of the Mindset Media study of 7500 Mac and PC users, “Mac users do really think they are superior”. They think they are “self important, extraordinary and more intellectually curious”.

But The Street doesn’t stop there. Apparently Mac users “rack in the credit card bills buying at least 5 new pairs of sneakers in the past year”. Those surveyed with “open personality” said they were 60% more likely to buy a Mac than a PC.

It goes on. Mac users apparently “buy organic food regularly”, and are more likely to buy “teeth whitening products”. Like Steve Jobs, the video says, Mac users “feel they are perfectionists”.

In a stat that will make the music studios happy, Mac users “download more music - and pay for it too”, with “half of mac users downloaded paid for music, while only 16% of PC users did the same”.

Mac users are supposed to be “more liberal, socially and politically”, are “more likely to use laptops or notebooks”, may need to “pimp their rides as they are more likely to cruise in station wagons”, and Mac users are “green, worried about the environment and pay for more green tech”.

Finally, in a “nod to Steve Jobs” prowess as a maker of quality technology, the video states that “Mac users are far more satisfied with their purchases than PC users, with 70% at the time of the recent survey expressing satisfaction as opposed to 59% of PC users”.

The video uses some of the popular “I’m a PC, and I’m a Mac” TV advertisements, spliced with a range of other video to illustrate the spoken words by a “The Street TV” reporter.

I keep wanting to buy a Mac myself, and am now torn over whether or not to get the MacBook Air because of its insanely thin dimensions, while also wondering just how good the MacBook Air 2 will be, whenever it is released.

I already own an iPhone and iPod Touch and love them, making a MacBook of some kind the logical next step.

So, if buying a Mac is going to make me a snob too, so be it! Make room, Mac users – I’ll be joining you soon, whether you like it or not! :-)
