ASUS Unveils External Graphics Card

Ok, rendo-me à evidência então. É uma tanga de produto. Acho bom que a Asus comece a fazer barebones já com Video In, pó pessoal começar a desfrutar disto. O que estimularia a venda dos modelos mais baratos da Asus... o que tornaria a Asus noutra Acer.. o que não seria nada bom... errr... deixem lá tar isso. Comprem mas é o P100-400

THE CHAPS over at 4Gamer have managed to get their hands on an ASUS XG Station, and have torn it open in cold blood.

The XG Station is designed to be an external graphics card, with an Nvidia GeForce 7900 GS card connected to a notebook via an ExpressCard slot, which is a variant on PCI-Express.

Housed externally, the casing provides a USB hub as well as an LCD readout of the card's performance, along with a large knob for overclocking with the merest twiddle.

Opened up, the card is exposed as a standard PCI-E card (with an SLI connector, now there's an idea). It's mounted to a fairly simple board which houses a PCI-E slot, power connector and a small fan.

On the external board is an addition C-Media audio chip, which allows the external unit to also function as a sound card.

Still no word on the pricing and availability of the XG Station, but it appears to be up and running, at least, which is more than we can say for many other GPUs in the works at the moment.
