Foxconn Goes Extreme With Motherboards

The Foxconn BlackOps Intel X48 Motherboard

Foxconn was also showing off their upcoming Intel X48 Express motherboard that is called BlackOps. The BlackOps motherboard comes with several chipset cooling solutions, which means that users can pick between active fan cooling, water cooling or something like dry ice cooling thanks to the 'tube' that Foxconn has developed. For those of us that have made our own dry ice tubes, this is a very nice feature that saves a ton of time.



If you are confused what we are talking about or where these coolers go, we got Foxconn to hold up the dry ice tube over the chipset cooling block. The top of the block has an o-ring in it, which seals the deal once four screws are tightened up.



Foxconn also had the X48 BlackOps board running in a water cooled system with the optional copper water block on the chipset. The overclocking results were rather impressive, but everyone knows that Intel 45nm processors can do 4GHz with ease. What was more impressive was the BIOS.



The Foxconn BIOS is out of this world. The CPU voltage on the Foxconn BlackOps motherboard can go all the way up to 2.4400V! That is more than enough for 99.9% of enthusiasts out there and it just goes to show how extreme Foxconn is getting about overclocking. The northbridge voltage for the Intel X48 Express chipset goes up to 2.395V, which again is just nuts.

Foxconn Unviels A Crazy Extended ATX Motherboard

Foxconn has been fun to work with for the past year because they are starting to move more and more into the enthusiast motherboard market. This year at CES they had a booth full of motherboards, video cards and so on, but our attention was directed to this extended ATX monster that Foxconn has yet to give an official name. We begged the marketing gurus while we were at Foxconn to give us a name, but all they would give us was internal code named of F1 and Transformer. Since there is never enough time at CES we let that slide as the board was just too awesome to not cover.



Looking at the board in the picture above it is hard to find a place to start. Of course the motherboard features four PCI Express slots as you can tell by the four ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT graphics card that are running together in CrossFire. If you look a little closer you will notice that the board has not one, but two 24-pin ATX power supply connectors. One has to be used and the other is an optional power header for just the graphics cards, which is innovative. Look a little closer and you'll notice that the board doesn't have heat pipes on it. Those copper pipes are water cooling tubes for the chipsets! Our readers that are extreme cooling experts should have noticed the power cables coming from the north bride. That would be the power wire for the Thermoelectric cooling plate that is used to drop the temperature of the chipset even more.



From this angle you can see that there is plenty of space between each of the four video cards, which will help in the cooling of the video cards. With a standard size ATX motherboard the cards would be basically touching one another.



Looking down on the I/O interface on the back of the motherboard one can see the inlet and outlet barbs for the water cooler. It's not every day that you see something like this.



We asked Foxconn to remove the video cards for us to take a look at the board by itself and noticed another chipset located next to the first video card.



Wait, there is another one? Other than saying that the platform was for Intel, Foxconn would not give details as to which chipsets the board was using.



With the video cards removed the board you can see the Foxconn F1 in all it's glory. Keep in mind that there are still changes in the works so this is not the final version. They mentioned the possible addition of more heatpipes to enhance cooling performance.

Foxconn A79A-S Motherboard

Foxconn was also showing some AMD enthusiast boards off and had the A79A-S leading the way. This is your usual AMD 790FX motherboard, but with Phenom slow getting out of the gate it wasn't too exciting.



Foxconn also flew in a few world class overclockers to do phase change cooling, but when we were at the Foxconn suite they were not fully ready to show off the test system.

In closing, Foxconn has really started to develop some killer enthusiast products and it should be interesting to see how the community takes to these new products. Foxconn has not been known to make enthusiast products in the past, but it seems like they are on the right path in making the move to high-end boards.

Então aquela eATX está um abuso.
Pelo menos espaço não lhe falta.

PS: De homem homem era a BlackOps trazer o container também para o CPU.

Foxxconn ftw! Elas já são rock-solid stable, mandem vir coisas prós "entusiastas" brincarem! Mas... O container é muito giro e tal... Mas e a garantia da board? É que se houver muito zé carioca a atafulhar isso com CO2 ou LN2 sem isolar nada... Espero que a garantia esteja preparada (ou os users preparados para "mandar vir", com ou sem razão, dependerá dos termos da garantia).
